ROLE
Creative Director
| Karin Schroeder

Direct graphic approach of weather elements, collaborate on activations and materials for structure, research pre-event mailer ideas, write + design proposal deck.

OVERVIEW

3M company is based in the Minneapolis/St Paul area and one of my core clients for exhibit and graphic design opportunities. We have been working with the Homecare division for several years on the ISPO event which features exhibitors in outdoor clothing and accessories. 3M has a vast portfolio of brands which support the clothing industry, the two products featured at this show were 3M™ Thinsulate featherless and PFC free Scotchgard™ protector.

The main focus for 3M is to hold meetings with current clientele and display product samples – the science behind their product is quite unique to each material and must be researched in the lab ahead of time before it can be used. The secondary purpose was to gain more foot traffic through interactives and hands on demonstrations within the space to start conversations regarding 3M’s unique portfolio solutions.

This is one of our favorite clients because we get to design the entire event from concept to completion for 3D design, interactives, copy writing, graphics, email blasts, pre-event mailers, and project management for the build of the exhibit with our German subcontractor and interactive agency abroad.

You’ll notice on the photos the canopy and the towers are seamless graphics attaching to the ever-changing sky conditions. Each tower portrays a different weather element, extreme winter, rain and “dog walker.” 3M frosted film is applied to plexi on the backlit insets, adding dimension – the inset displays the human element for each graphic in the appropriate climate.
